The National Identification Authority (NIA) has completely changed the game for getting your Ghana Card. Say goodbye to missing work or standing in long queues all day. The first-ever NIA Prestige Centre is here, and it operates 24/7—yes, even on weekends!
This new premium service, launched in partnership with the Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) at the Accra Digital Centre, is designed for speed and pure convenience.
What Makes the Prestige Centre Different?
For years, the NIA’s premium services only ran from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you were busy during regular working hours, getting a new card, replacing a lost one, or updating your details was a real headache.
Now, this new 24-hour facility means you can walk in after work, late at night, or even on a Sunday. It’s built to reduce congestion at regular district offices and make the entire process smooth and stress-free.
Services Offered and What It Costs
The NIA Prestige Centre offers all the essential premium services. Keep in mind that these are fee-based, so you are paying for the speed and convenience.
- First-Time Registration: Getting a fresh Ghana Card will cost you GHS 410.
- Card Replacement: Lost, missing, or damaged your card? A replacement costs GHS 510.
- Personal Updates: Need to correct your name, date of birth, or nationality? That’s also GHS 200.
*Note: The NIA does not accept cash. Payments are usually made via the CalBank mobile app, their shortcode (*771#), or directly at a CalBank branch.
What’s Next for the 24-Hour Centres?
Accra is just the starting point. The CEO of GDCL, Dzifa Gunu, and the NIA Executive Secretary, Wisdom Yayra Koku, have confirmed that over 10 of these 24-hour centres will soon be rolled out nationwide. Cities like Kumasi, Tamale, Ho, and Takoradi are next on the list.
This isn’t just about faster IDs; it’s also creating jobs for the youth in these regions. So, if you’ve been delaying your Ghana Card registration, there are no more excuses!
