Governor Peter Mbah has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Enugu State-born Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Onwe Adetshina, on her remarkable achievement as the first runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024 Pageant in Mexico. He praised her perseverance, courage, and determination, qualities that exemplify the spirit of the people of Enugu State.
The Governor, who had earlier welcomed Miss Onwe Adetshina in October and honored her as the state’s brand ambassador, expressed gratitude to Nigerians and supporters worldwide for their unwavering encouragement throughout her inspiring journey to the global stage.
“Congratulations to Miss Universe Nigeria and Enugu State Brand Ambassador, Chidimma Onwe Adetshina, our pride from Amurri, Nkanu West LGA, on emerging as the 1st Runner-Up at the Miss Universe 2024 Pageant in Mexico!” Governor Mbah said.
“Chidimma’s extraordinary journey and stellar performance have filled us with immense pride, reaffirming the resilience, brilliance, and determination that define Ndi Enugu. Against all odds, she has made Enugu and Nigeria shine brightly on the world stage, and we could not be prouder of her.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Enugu State, I say congratulations, Chidimma – keep soaring to even greater heights!
“I also want to thank Nigerians and the global community who rallied behind her and voted overwhelmingly to help her achieve this monumental feat,” he added.
Miss Onwe Adetshina’s journey to success has been a testament to resilience and adaptability. Originally residing in South Africa, she withdrew from the Miss South Africa competition due to challenges of acceptance and controversy surrounding her participation. Undeterred, she joined the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, where she earned the crown and the honor of representing Nigeria on the global stage.
At the Miss Universe 2024 Pageant in Mexico, Chidimma’s grace and talent shone brightly, earning her the prestigious title of first runner-up to Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who claimed the crown on Sunday.
