Former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, made a notable public appearance, quashing recent rumors that claimed he was critically ill or had passed away. Ofori-Atta, who currently serves as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Senior Advisor on the economy, attended the Induction Service of the new Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, at the Wesley Cathedral in Accra on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
The event, which attracted several prominent figures, saw Ofori-Atta dressed in traditional kente cloth, actively participating in the proceedings. Videos and photos of his presence at the ceremony were shared by Samuel Koku Anyidoho, former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Kow Essuman, legal counsel to President Akufo-Addo.
In a video posted by Anyidoho, Ofori-Atta was seen walking in the cathedral, and the caption read: “Ei, people can really wish people dead paaa oooo!!! They say Ken Ofori-Atta is virtually dying and flown out of Ghana but I just saw him with my own eyes at the Induction Service of the new Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church at Wesley Cathedral, Accra. God forgive us our sins.”
Kow Essuman also shared a picture of Ofori-Atta in his vibrant kente, remarking, “Ken Ofori-Atta, in his beautiful kente cloth, is currently at the induction of the Most Reverend Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, the 6th Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, at the Wesley Cathedral in Accra. The wicked lies must stop! Congratulations, Presiding!”
The public appearance of Ofori-Atta not only dispelled the baseless rumors but also highlighted his active engagement in national and religious affairs, continuing his service to the country despite stepping down as finance minister.
