In a statement released after recent developments in the region, the Minister commended the telecom giant for its professionalism, technical expertise, and commitment to ensuring uninterrupted mobile and internet services for residents.

MTN Ghana, the leading telecommunications company in the country, had come under pressure in recent months due to frequent complaints of poor network connectivity in parts of the Eastern Region. However, their recent response has been met with praise, as the company took proactive steps to address the technical faults that affected communication and digital services in Brukum, Opersika, and nearby communities.

Call to Expedite Solutions to Remaining Challenges

While praising the work done so far, Hon. Awatey did not shy away from calling for accelerated attention to other outstanding issues. In particular, she pointed out the ongoing network instability around the Sikalerhia Mast area, urging MTN Ghana to prioritize and fast-track solutions in that locality and other similarly affected areas.

She referenced earlier discussions with the MTN leadership team and noted that although progress has been made, there remains work to be done. The Minister assured the people of the Eastern Region that her office remains committed to ensuring that no community is left behind in accessing reliable telecommunications services.

“Connectivity today is a fundamental right. We cannot allow communities to remain in the dark due to poor network coverage. I urge MTN to speed up their interventions in the Sikalerhia zone and other black spots across the region,” she added.
