Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem Sai has disclosed that the prosecution has decided not to file a formal response to a motion by former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene seeking to strike out portions of the prosecution’s submissions.
Srem Sai described the motion as frivolous and indicated that the prosecution would not respond to it formally.
The development came during proceedings in the ongoing case involving Adu-Boahene, who is facing prosecution over alleged financial and other offences. The court has adjourned the matter to October 29, 2026.
Prosecution Declines Formal Response
According to Srem Sai, the prosecution has chosen not to submit a formal response to Adu-Boahene’s application.
The motion seeks to have portions of the prosecution’s submissions struck out. However, the Deputy Attorney-General dismissed the application as frivolous, signalling the prosecution’s position on the request.
The decision not to respond formally does not, by itself, determine the outcome of the application. The court will have to consider the matter in accordance with the applicable procedures and any arguments presented during the proceedings.
Adu-Boahene Seeks to Strike Out Portions of Submissions
The application filed by Adu-Boahene challenges parts of the prosecution’s submissions and asks the court to remove them from consideration.
Such applications can become important in criminal proceedings because they may affect the material or arguments the court considers when determining a matter.
The precise portions of the prosecution’s submissions being challenged, as well as the legal grounds advanced in the motion, will be important to understanding the application fully.
The prosecution’s decision not to file a formal response represents its position on the motion, but the court remains responsible for determining the application.
Case Adjourned to October 29
Following the latest proceedings, the court adjourned the case to October 29, 2026.
The next hearing is expected to provide a further opportunity for the court to address the outstanding matters in the proceedings.
The case continues to attract attention because of the allegations involving Adu-Boahene and the legal arguments being raised by the parties.
As the proceedings continue, the court will determine the issues before it based on the applicable law and the material properly presented.
