Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has declared a total dividend of GH¢673.48 million for the 2025 financial year following approval by shareholders at the Bank’s 56th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra.

The dividend payout comprises GH¢1.13 million in preference share dividends and GH¢672.35 million from a dividend of GH¢4.989 per ordinary share.

The declaration reflects the Bank’s financial performance for the year and provides shareholders with returns on their investment following the approval of the proposed distribution at the AGM.

The meeting brought together shareholders and the Bank’s leadership to consider key matters relating to the institution’s operations, financial performance and future direction.

A release copied to the Ghana News Agency quoted Mr Ebenezer Twum Asante, Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC, as saying management would continue to position the Bank to deliver sustainable value to shareholders.

He said the Bank remained focused on building on its strengths while responding to developments in Ghana’s economy and the wider global financial environment.

“Looking ahead, Ghana’s improving macroeconomic outlook provides grounds for optimism, even as global uncertainties remain. We remain confident in the strength of our franchise, the resilience of our people and the relevance of our strategy,” he said.

The Chairman said the Bank would continue to support its clients while contributing to Ghana’s economic development.

He added that Standard Chartered Bank Ghana would continue working to deepen its contribution to the economy and deliver long-term value to stakeholders.

The dividend declaration comes as Ghana’s banking sector continues to operate within an evolving economic environment, with financial institutions paying close attention to economic conditions, business confidence and the needs of customers.

For shareholders, the approved dividend represents a direct return from the Bank’s 2025 financial year and follows the formal approval process required at the AGM.

The GH¢4.989 dividend per ordinary share forms the largest portion of the total payout, accounting for GH¢672.35 million of the declared amount.

The additional GH¢1.13 million in preference share dividends brings the total distribution to GH¢673.48 million.

The decision also highlights the Bank’s intention to maintain shareholder returns while continuing to invest in its operations and customer services.

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana has maintained a longstanding presence in the country’s financial sector, serving individuals, businesses and institutions through its banking operations.

The Bank’s activities include services for corporate and institutional clients as well as personal and business banking customers.

Its continued operations also contribute to Ghana’s financial sector by providing financing, transaction services and other banking solutions to businesses and individuals.

At the AGM, shareholders were given the opportunity to consider and approve the dividend proposal alongside other matters concerning the Bank.

The approval allows the institution to proceed with the distribution in line with the applicable requirements governing dividend payments.

The announcement also comes against a backdrop of improving macroeconomic conditions in Ghana, which the Bank’s chairman identified as a reason for cautious optimism.

Mr Asante acknowledged that global uncertainties remained but expressed confidence in the Bank’s ability to operate effectively within the changing environment.

He pointed to the strength of the Bank’s franchise and the resilience of its employees as important factors supporting its future outlook.

The Chairman also reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to its clients and to Ghana’s economic development.

For businesses, banks remain an important source of financing and financial services, particularly as companies seek to expand operations, manage transactions and respond to changing market conditions.

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana’s continued focus on clients is therefore expected to remain central to its strategy as it navigates the economic environment.

The dividend declaration further demonstrates the Bank’s focus on balancing the interests of shareholders with its broader business objectives.

While shareholders will benefit from the approved distribution, the Bank is also expected to continue investing in its people, technology, customer services and other areas necessary to maintain its competitiveness.

The GH¢673.48 million payout therefore represents a significant financial distribution for the 2025 financial year.

The ordinary share dividend of GH¢4.989 accounts for almost the entire declared amount, while preference shareholders will receive GH¢1.13 million.

With shareholder approval secured at the 56th AGM, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana is set to proceed with the distribution while maintaining its focus on supporting customers and contributing to Ghana’s economic development.

Mr Asante said the Bank remained confident in its strategy and would continue working to deliver sustainable value to shareholders despite uncertainties in the global economic environment.
