STATE CAPTURE – LANDGRABBING: Complicity of Chiefs & Chief Justices…

STATE CAPTURE – LANDGRABBING: Complicity of Chiefs & Chief Justices…

Charity they say begins at home…

THE LA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL MUST THEREFORE BE AUDITED;

Especially as the La Traditional Council remains silent on the allegations that it has been engaged in selling La Stool Lands and the La Beachfront contrary to the Supreme Court ruling.

Traditional Councils in Ghana are statutory bodies created by the Government to interface with the Chief who is automatically President of the Traditional Council and his advisors who are members of the Traditional Council.

These Traditional Councils are run by Registars appointed by the Local Government Ministry.

The La Traditional Council has been determined unanimously by the Supreme Court not to own land.

The Supreme Court further stated that the La Traditional Council lacks the capacity to deal in lands.

The Supreme Court also determined that it is the La Stool that owns the La Stool Lands, which were won through WAR.

La must put its house in order in anticipation of the return of La Stool Lands acquired by the State and various potential agreements on the Beachfront lands and properties.

The La Traditional Council members recently in the company of the Regional Minister and the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly Chief Executive accused some La Youth of selling the Kpeshie Lagoon estuary.

The Regional Minister last week promised to demolish a building at the Laboma Beach obstructing the Kpeshie Lagoon estuary but was silent on the Polo Club on the other side also obstructing the same Kpeshie Lagoon estuary.

BOTH SIDES OF THE ESTUARY GET FLOODED WHEN THE KPESHIE LAGOON BREAKS ITS BANKS.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister and LaDMa must have a comprehensive outlook and take decisive action if they are really interested in stopping the reclaiming of the lands along the Kpeshie Lagoon.

LA MUST TAKE STOCK OF ALL ITS ASSETS: The Lands as well as Human Resources;

The La Lands including the Beachfront must undergo an audit of the revenue, institutional structure and accountability measures including reporting systems and banking culture.

The La People especially the youth must not be consigned to a life of Unemployment, lack of Education and Drug Addiction and other Social Vices.

There must be a clearly documented plan directly linking the mobilisation of La Land Resources to the development of its Human Resources.

The setting up of the La Stool Lands Secretariat as required by law [ACT 1036] is an imperative that must be preceded by a forensic audit of the East La Dadekotopon Development Trust and the La Beach Resorts.

THE LA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL MUST BE AUDITED, especially as they remain silent on the allegations that it has been engaged in selling Lands contrary to the Supreme Court ruling.

Establishing the credibility of the La Traditional Council and its members is key.

Freddy Blay must be compelled to substantiate his claims that his son bought the Labadi Beach Hotel Beachfront from the La Traditional Council, retract and apologies after returning the Beachfront to the Labadi Beach Hotel or be investigated by the State investigative agencies…

There is a mad rush or justling to become Chief or Elders in various parts of Accra ostensibly to gain access to Land which Land is sold for personal gain.

This phenomenon and its attendant orchestrated Chieftaincy disputes occasioned the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs to issue a warning to Traditional Councils, Chiefs, Wulomei and others clearly stating what each can or cannot do and the criminal sanctions stated in the Chieftaincy Act for each of these offences.

The Chief Justice’s call for a NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON LANDS must take note of these and also that two of her Predecessor Chief Justices have been complicit in controversial land deals…

ACT 1036 requires all fiduciaries including the President and Chiefs to be transparent and accountable in all Land Transactions.

To avoid any shady Land deals, just like is done at the DVLA in Road Worthy renewals and vehicle registration;

ALL LAND TRANSACTIONS MUST BE DONE VIA THE DESIGNATED BANK;

In the specific case of La Lands, all payments in respect of any transactions from Indenture through Lease to Title Certificate must be done through THE LA BANK.

ACT 1036 imposes stiff fines and long terms of imprisonment for those who infringe on the law.

WILL THE LAW WORK?

Are some above the law…

Ghanaians including the La People are resolved to be Citizens and not Spectators.

STAY TUNED.
