The ongoing teacher strike is set to continue after talks between the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and the teacher unions ended without an agreement.
The meeting was the latest attempt to resolve the issues that led to the nationwide strike.
The three teacher unions involved are the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Pre-Tertiary Teachers Association of Ghana (PRETAG).
The unions have raised concerns over unpaid promotion arrears, salary placement and delays in negotiating a new collective agreement.
They have also called for the implementation of the Deprived Area Allowance for teachers working in underserved communities.
Despite several engagements with government, the issues remain unresolved.
The latest development means teachers will continue to stay away from the classroom as negotiations continue.
The government has been engaging the unions in an effort to reach an agreement and restore normal teaching and learning.
Further discussions are expected as both sides work towards resolving the outstanding concerns.
