The Wa Central Constituency branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper West Region has suspended its Women’s Organiser, Takora Attawa, indefinitely for allegedly violating Articles 3(5) (a)(2) of the NPP Constitution.
The said article emphasises the importance of loyalty, discipline, and unity within the party.
With barely two months to the general elections, the suspension was announced by the party in a statement issued and signed by the Constituency Secretary, Mumuni Abass Sidik on October 1, 2024.
“We, the Constituency Executive Committee of Wa Central hereby ask you to restrain from holding yourself as the Constituency Women Organiser pending an investigation into your conduct. This decision is made in accordance with Article 3(7)(1) of the NPP Constitution, which empowers the Constituency Executive Committee to suspend any officer who misconduct him/herself or shows intransigence pending an enquiry by the disciplinary committee,” the statement reads in part.
According to the statement, Takora Attawa, should reflect on her actions and consider the impact they have had on the party.
