President John Dramani Mahama has officially nominated Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings as Minister designate for Environment, Science and Technology.
The major political announcement came in an official press statement released by Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu on August 7 2026.
This key nomination forms part of a broader executive cabinet reshuffle aimed at filling leadership gaps created after the tragic August 6 2025 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings brings strong public leadership and environmental advocacy experience to the ministry. Citizens across the nation expect her to tackle illegal mining, climate disruption, and technology development head on.
The government reshuffle also reassigns former Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
Meanwhile Kenneth Gilbert Adjei transitions from Works and Housing to head the Ministry of Defence, while Ahmed Ibrahim moves to lead Works, Housing and Water Resources.
