Elections in our part of the world always bring intense drama that keeps everybody talking. Citizens wait anxiously to see who emerges victorious at the polling booths. That heavy tension finally broke when the final results dropped for everyone to see.
The Returning Officer Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole officially declared the Accord candidate Ademola Adeleke the winner of the Osun State governorship election. The victorious politician polled 511,067 votes to secure his sweet triumph. Voters came out in their numbers to register their strong preference at the ballot boxes.
The fierce contest left opposing camps trailing behind as the numbers rolled in steadily. The APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji managed 444,815 votes during the intense exercise. Meanwhile the ADC candidate Najeem Salaan polled 17,180 votes to finish the race.
Beyond the heavy political numbers, the new governor has famous family connections that add extra flavor to the story. Ademola Adeleke happens to be the uncle of the popular Nigerian musician Davido. Supporters are celebrating this massive win across towns and cities as a new chapter begins.
