Travelers planning a weekend journey across the country always expect a safe ride to their final destinations. Sudden vehicle troubles can cause massive panic for passengers waiting patiently at local transport terminals. A frightening incident recently shook people at a popular transport yard in the Ashanti Region.
A VIP Jeoun bus caught fire unexpectedly while parked at Abuakwa within the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality. The vehicle with registration number GT 6770 18 was getting ready for a scheduled night trip to Accra. The incident recorded zero casualties because no passengers had boarded the bus yet.
The sharp-eyed conductor named Kwaku Apai noticed thick smoke coming out of the stationary vehicle around 6:45 p.m. Without wasting any valuable time, he quickly switched off the main power supply to prevent disaster. He then rushed to alert the station supervisor about the unfolding danger.
Management confirmed that the supervisor immediately contacted the Ghana National Fire Service for urgent rescue assistance. Fire officers arrived promptly to handle the situation and clear the debris safely. Management planned to begin loading passengers at 9:30 p.m. that same Saturday, August 15.
Transport managers quickly arranged a replacement bus so that stranded travelers could continue their journey without major delays. Company authorities emphasized their firm commitment to ensuring safe and comfortable travel experiences for everyone. Thorough investigations are currently underway to find out what triggered the unexpected fire outbreak.
