Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has called for a renewed national commitment to recover, protect and properly account for public funds.
He said Ghana could no longer afford waste in the management of public resources.
Dr Forson made the remarks in Tamale during an engagement on the 2025 Auditor-General’s Report with Regional Ministers and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
The meeting focused on the need to strengthen accountability and ensure that public funds are used for their intended purposes.
The Finance Minister stressed that every cedi of public money must be properly accounted for. He also called for efforts to recover funds lost through financial irregularities.
His remarks highlight the importance of responsible financial management across government institutions and local assemblies.
The 2025 Auditor-General’s Report provides a basis for discussions on how public resources are managed and how identified financial irregularities can be addressed.
Dr Forson’s call places renewed attention on the responsibility of public officials to protect state funds and ensure they benefit the people of Ghana.
