Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has reported himself to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after the Accra High Court issued a warrant for his arrest.

The MP appeared before EOCO on Thursday, October 1, 2026, accompanied by his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea.

The development comes a day after the High Court granted EOCO an arrest warrant and authorised the agency to search for and seize documents considered relevant to its ongoing investigation. The court directed that the arrest be executed through the Speaker of Parliament.

EOCO says the investigation concerns alleged unauthorised financial transactions at SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited. The agency has linked the probe to suspected financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering. These remain allegations under investigation.

EOCO had previously attempted to arrest Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court on September 23. The agency said the action followed invitations issued to him in February 2026.

However, Baffour Awuah has disputed EOCO’s account. He has said the invitations were connected to his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, which represented SIC Life Savings and Loans.

According to the MP, he referred the matter to the Clerk to Parliament after receiving the invitation, while a representative of the law firm later engaged EOCO and provided information requested by investigators.

EOCO has urged the public to allow due process to determine the MP’s involvement in the matter and avoid premature conclusions about his culpability.

Following his appearance at EOCO, investigators accompanied the MP to his former law firm and were expected to proceed to his residence as part of the search authorised by the court.

The investigation remains ongoing.
