La Liga president Javier Tebas has called for the strictest possible punishment against Manchester City over the club’s alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations.
Speaking to FIFPRO, Tebas said the case should be treated seriously and that any punishment should send a strong message to other football clubs.
“I believe it should be the STRICTEST punishment in the Premier League regulations,” Tebas stated.
He further argued that the alleged violations over more than 10 years make the matter particularly serious.
“It must serve as an example. Violating the rules for over 10 years is a very serious thing,” he added.
Tebas believes Manchester City should face the strongest punishment permitted under Premier League regulations if the findings against the club are upheld.
His comments come amid growing attention surrounding Manchester City’s financial case and the possibility of disciplinary action.
The case has attracted attention across European football, with football administrators and supporters closely following developments.
