Political races in northern Ghana always bring massive excitement as delegates gather to decide who leads the local chapter. Party faithfuls stay awake late into the night just to witness how fierce contests will finally end. Every single ballot counts when heavyweights clash for top positions in town.
A very tight contest just unfolded during the New Patriotic Party Savannah regional executive elections. Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana stepped forward to claim the chairmanship seat after a dramatic battle. He managed to secure ninety two votes to seal his victory at the polls.
His main challenger was Dr Ing Clifford Braimah who previously served as Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited. The experienced contender polled eighty eight votes in a deeply contested race that kept everyone on edge. A tiny margin of just four votes separated the winner from the loser.
Other executive positions also saw intense competition as new leaders emerged to guide party structures. Aboagye Kwame won the first vice position with one hundred and twenty four votes. Johnson Kwame Gyinde secured the second vice role after polling one hundred and twenty votes.
Seidu Ayuba took the regional secretary position after beating his opponent by a narrow margin. Raphael Mahama Akati sailed through unopposed to become the regional organiser for the party. Ali Abubakar also won the treasurer role to complete the core leadership team.
The newly elected executives face a huge task as they prepare grassroots structures for upcoming political battles. Unity and hard work remain the ultimate keys to achieving success in the region. Party members expect great results as everyone rallies behind the new leadership team.
