Political excitement filled the air in Tema West as delegates gathered for a crucial regional showdown. The New Patriotic Party in Greater Accra needed strong leadership to heal past wounds. Everyone waited eagerly to see who would take charge of the regional machinery.
Dr Bernard Okoe Boye swept to a massive victory at the WAEC Hall during the polls on Saturday August 15 2026. The former Health Minister and former Ledzokuku Member of Parliament proved his high popularity among party delegates. He promised an inclusive leadership style focused on rebuilding grassroots structures.
The final count showed a landslide victory as Dr Okoe Boye polled four hundred and ninety votes. His main contender Alfred Boye managed to secure one hundred and seventy two votes during the exercise. That massive gap created a historic three hundred and eighteen vote margin of triumph.
Other executive positions also saw fierce competition as new team members emerged to support the chairman. Moses Abor dominated the organiser race by polling four hundred and sixty five votes against Austin Emmanuel Assim who got one hundred and sixty three votes. Prince Obeng grabbed the second vice chairman role with four hundred and fifty three votes.
Joana Francis Adda secured the first vice chairman position by pulling four hundred and five votes. France Odarlai Parker won the secretary race with three hundred and forty seven votes while Emmanuel Clottey managed three hundred and fourteen votes. Michael Danquah took the treasurer seat after securing two hundred and sixty five votes.
The women organiser race brought nail biting tension when Naomi Akosua Owusu edged her rival by just a single vote. She polled two hundred and twenty seven votes while Sarah Dugbatie Pobee closely followed with two hundred and twenty six votes. Solomon Asante also won the communications officer position with two hundred and sixty five votes against Abdul Rahaman Sabo Adam who gathered two hundred and thirty nine votes.
The new executive team faces a tough recovery mission after the party lost eight parliamentary seats in 2024. Their total seats in the region dropped from fourteen down to just six during that painful outing. Party faithfuls expect these newly elected leaders to unite everyone and reclaim lost glory before the 2028 general elections.
