Nine people have sustained various degrees of injury following a severe head-on collision between a Toyota Sienta and a Tata Xenon pickup at Awaso, located within the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region. The accident, which occurred near an area known as Appetite, is currently under active police investigation.

According to official police briefs, a 39-year-old suspect driver, Manu Augustine, was piloting the Toyota Sienta (registration AS 4009-25) from Sefwi Dwenase toward Bibiani with six passengers on board. Upon reaching the Appetite section of the road, Augustine reportedly attempted to overtake a vehicle ahead. This maneuver resulted in a direct crash into an oncoming Tata Xenon pickup (registration GT 2961-25) traveling from the opposite direction.

The pickup was driven by 39-year-old Augustine Debrah, who was transporting two passengers at the time: Evans Badu, 26, and an Indian national identified as Tejinder Singh, 35.

The impact left all occupants of both vehicles, including the two drivers, with multiple injuries. Good Samaritans and emergency teams rushed all nine victims to the Green Shield Hospital at Sefwi Bekwai, where they are currently receiving medical stabilization and treatment.

Local police authorities have since impounded the two damaged vehicles at the station to undergo mechanical testing and assist with the ongoing investigation into the crash. Road safety advocates are using the incident to remind motorists in the Western North Region to avoid risky overtaking and maintain maximum focus during transit.
