Former NAFCO CEO’s lawyers argue Airport arrest unconstitutional, risk contempt case against A-G

The tension surrounding the former National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Officer Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba has taken a wild legal turn. His recent arrest at the Kotoka International Airport has sparked massive outrage from his legal team, turning a regular travel schedule into an absolute courtroom battle.

Lawyers from Dame and Partners are fighting back furiously, calling the airport arrest totally unlawful and a direct disrespect to the judiciary. The legal team is now ready to file heavy contempt proceedings against the Attorney General Godfred Dame, his deputy Dr Justice Srem-Sai, and the Director of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).

The legal team explicitly stated that a High Court judge, Justice Achibonga, granted Mr Aludiba official permission to travel to the United Kingdom for a critical medical appointment from July 4 to July 12. Stopping a citizen with a valid court order at the airport border looks like a massive administrative blunder that completely undermines the justice system.

The lawyers also completely rubbished claims made by Deputy Attorney-General Srem-Sai on Facebook, where he alleged that the former NAFCO boss tried to secretly clear out a frozen Republic Bank account. The defense team has challenged the state to produce any bank statement showing a single withdrawal attempt, insisting that no valid freezing order even exists.

According to official court details, previous freezing orders naturally expired when initial charges were dropped on May 5, while fresh charges filed on May 15 did not automatically freeze anything. With the Adentan High Court already confirming that the accounts are legally clear, this dramatic airport showdown is setting up a massive legal showdown this week.
